Kan cineol gebruikt worden als alternatief bij het ontbreken van eucalyptus tinctuur?

Het Fagron assortiment bevat verschillende referenties die gelinkt worden aan ‘Eucalyptus’.

Cineol of Eucalyptol
Eucalyptol of Cineol is één molecule, namelijk 1,8-cineole.

Eucalyptus Vlugolie
Eucalyptus Vlugolie is een mengsel van verschillende bestanddelen waaronder minimum 70% cineol en voor de rest alfa-pinenen (5 – 15%), limoneen (3 – 10%), trans-pinocarveol (0.5 – 5%) en talrijke monoterpenen.

Eucalyptus Tinctuur
Eucalyptus Tinctuur bevat volgens de leverancier tussen de 0,3 en 0,5% vlugolie.

Uit bovenstaande informatie is af te leiden Eucalyptus Tinctuur geen volwaardig alternatief is voor Cineol.

Mag Cineol gebruikt worden ter verdamping?

In de Martindale wordt volgende informatie teruggevonden met betrekking tot Cineol:

“Cineole has the actions and uses of eucalyptus oil (p.2301). It has
been used in counter-irritant ointments and in dental products. It
has also been used in nasal preparations, but oily solutions inhibit
ciliary movement and may cause lipoid pneumonia. Preparations
containing cineole with other volatile substances have been used
in the treatment of renal and biliary calculi”

Cineol heeft dezelfde activiteit en toepassingsgebieden als Eucalyptus Vlugolie. In de Martindale wordt volgende informatie teruggevonden met betrekking tot Eucalyptus Vlugolie:

“Eucalyptus oil has been taken orally for catarrh and coughs and
is an ingredient of many preparations. It has been used as an inhalation often in combination with other volatile substances. Eucalyptus oil has also been applied as a rubefacient and is used as
a flavour. It is also used in aromatherapy”
