Cetostearylalcohol Emul Type A = Lanette N = Cetostearylalcohol (9) + NaCetearylsulfaat (1), is een anionische O/W complexemulgator met HLB-waarde 38.
Cetostearylalcohol Emul Type B = Lanette SX = Cetostearylalcohol + NaCetearylsulfaat + Nalaurylsulfaat, is een anionische O/W complexemulgator met HLB-waarde 39.

Complexemulgatoren zoals Lanette N en SX geven veel stabielere emulsies dan preparaten met bv. enkel cetostearylalcohol als emulgator. Lanette N en SX verschillen nauwelijks van elkaar, waardoor ze kunnen worden gebruikt voor dezelfde toepassingen.

Zijn cetomacrogol 1000 en Lanette O hetzelfde?

Cetomacrogol 1000 en Lanetto O zijn niet hetzelfde product.
Cetomacrogol 1000 is een macrogolether, meer specifiek PEG-(1000)monocetylether (polyoxyethyleenethers van vetalcoholen). 1000 staat voor de gemiddelde moleculaire massa. Dit is een O/W-emulgator.
Lanette O = cetearylalcohol is een mengels van cetyl (20-35%) en stearylalcoholen (50-70%). Dit is een W/O-emulgator.
De combinatie van cetomacrogol 1000 (20%) en lanetto O (80%) vormt de complexemulgator cetomacrogol emulsifiërend.
